About PIC Solution
PIC Solution provides supercritical fluid technology for environmentally friendly and sustainable CO2 Separation (SFC) and CO2 Extraction (SFE) since 2004. In a world seeking renewable technologies for solving the waste and disposal problems, SFE and SFC can contribute to the more expedient delivery of better compounds while minimizing the impact on the environment in which we live.
PIC Solution was founded in 2004 by Mohamed Shaimi in Avignon, France. Rapidly the company was recognized within the Pharma industry as a leader in the design and construction of high quality, robust and reliable SFC instrumentation. In 2008, PIC Solution built and commissioned the largest industrial scale supercritical chromatography system, SFC-700. The system is currently being used in Europe to separate and purify pharmaceutical products. Following several successful years and to respond to global demand for SFC and SFE, PIC Solution Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary with offices in San Diego, California, was opened in 2011. In the last few years, PIC Solution has built a global collaborative network to expand services in Europe, North America, South America, India, China and Israel.
PIC Solution introduced the concept of “One Machine – Multiple Use” by designing a single instrument capable of doing both analytical and preparative SFC. More recently, our “One Machine – Multiple Use” concept was expanded to a new series of SFC instruments designed to do both CO2 Extraction and CO2 Separation, an ideal combination for Pharma and Natural Product applications including Hemp remediation and individual cannabinoid isolation.
The Team
Mohamed Shaimi, Ph.D.
CEO and Founder
Dr. Shaimi earned his MS in Chemistry and his PhD in Chemical Engineering while working at Prochrom SA, France. He later joined Chiral Technologies and Merck & Co., where he championed SFC technologies within the scale-up and purification departments. In 2004, Dr. Shaimi founded PIC Solution in Avignon, France, where the headquarter and manufacturing facility are currently located. He is a prolific inventor and the author of multiple patents covering the proprietary technological advances developed by PIC Solution.
Gerard Rosse, Ph.D.
Vice President, North America
Dr. Rosse received his BS and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and did postdoctoral studies at Stanford University, California. Dr. Rosse has extensive experience in analytical chemistry, medicinal chemistry and drug discovery research working with F. Hoffmann-La Roche, Sanofi-Aventis, Cephalon and Dart NeuroScience. Most recently, he pioneered the implementation of SFC-MS at research and industrial scale to support small molecules automated synthesis. Dr. Rosse is the author of many publications and patents, and recently edited a new book on modern SFC applications.
